Help Trent Raise $120,000 for Peterborough & Durham

Greetings Colleagues,

Trent’s annual United Way campaign has an enormous impact on our local community. In fact, TUFA members and other Trent employees account for about 10% of the United Way’s campaign in Peterborough while making significant contributions in Durham as well. Stable funding allows the United Way’s many Partner Agencies to provide an array of services to those in need: people escaping domestic violence, the unhoused, children and youth at risk, those struggling to get by, those struggling to get better. United Way funding helps new Canadians get settled in Peterborough and provides micro-grants to fund civic improvements. You can find a detailed breakdown of how the United Way Peterborough & District uses our contributions in their Community Impact Report for 2023-2024.

The problems that the United Way addresses are tenacious: we will not eliminate poverty, or addiction, or domestic violence.  However, by contributing each of us ensures that those facing such crises are not alone. We provide the resources needed to help; we support the volunteers and staff on the ground working to make a difference; we show compassion and solidarity, and we build community resilience.

If you have not already done so, pledging to the United Way campaign is easy. You can sign-up for payroll deductions or make a one-time gift via Trent’s private and secure @ work donation portal, or by submitting a completed pledge postcard in a sealed envelope through internal mail, addressed to: “United Way”. You may choose to direct your donation to either the Peterborough or Durham United Way. United Way is a registered charity and your contributions are tax deductible.

With gratitude,

Geoff
