Subject: General Meeting call – December 5th (1:30 pm to 3:30 pm) – LEC 201 or Zoom

Colleagues,

TUFA’s Fall General Membership Meeting (GMM) has been scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 5th.  There are a number of important issues that the Executive Committee would like to flag as being of particular interest to members on this Agenda. Specifically:

  1. the Chief Negotiator will provide an update on remuneration issues in the wake of Bill 124 and will set out a trajectory for developing TUFA’s bargaining mandate for the coming round of negotiations (under Agenda item 7.c.i.);
  2. the Chief Grievance Officer will report on the progress of Indigenization in the PSE sector and the danger of Trent – historically a leader in this area — falling behind (under Agenda item 6.a.);
  3. The Chairs of the Palestinian Students and Scholars at Risk Committee and of the TUFA Scholars Against the Scholasticide in Palestine Committee will report on their committees’ activities (under Agenda item 7.d.).

The meeting will be hybrid and is scheduled to last two hours. For those attending in person, we have reserved Room 201 in Lady Eaton College on the Symons Campus. Members preferring to participate remotely can do so by using the Zoom link provided to you in an email.

There will be an end-of-term celebration at the Ceilie immediately following the General Membership meeting. Durham-based members please note that we are also planning a licensed end-of-semester Social at the Trent-Durham campus for December 4th – details to follow.

The tentative Agenda is attached; other documents will follow. Alternative formats for TUFA documents are available on request.  Per the Association’s “Policy on Payment for Care of Dependents,” individual members anticipating such expenses in connection with attending the GMM should contact the TUFA office to arrange for reimbursement.

In Solidarity,
